VT SEEDS Calendar of Events 2007 - 2008 school year September 14^th – SEEDS Info Booth in Squires 18^th – SEEDS Info Booth in Squires October 1^st – 5^th SEEDS Info Cards distributed in Dining Halls 3^rd – SEEDS Info Booth in Squires – Haymarket Theatre 10AM – 2:30PM Organic Chocolate Sale pre-orders begin 16th- VT Engage Organization Fair 4PM-7PM on the Drillfield 20^th – Stream Clean up 10AM - 2PM, Stroubles Creek – Meet at the Surge Building 22^nd – 27^th - VT Environmental Sustainability Week 24^th – Sustainability Organization Showcase in Squires 9AM – 5PM 27^th – Freshwater Heritage of Blacksburg Walk, Meet 12Noon at the Watershed open-house across from Kent Square on Draper Rd. November 2^nd –Band Fundraiser (Curious Strange at CHAMPS at 9PM) 3^rd – Fall Hike (Kelly’s Knob – the closest part of the Appalachian Trail to Blacksburg) Note that the Kelly’s Knob trail starts with a sharp, uphill hike for about 10-15 minutes. It then levels off and is about 1.5-2 miles to the overlook. 5^th – 9^th - VT SEEDS Organic Chocolate Sale Delivery of organic chocolate pre-orders December 1^st – VT SEEDS Movie Night (Baraka –starts at 9PM) Spring Semester 2008 January 31st – Focus the Nation Event on VT Campus February 4th – Equal Exchange Fundraiser Begins 5th – Information Booth A in Squires 11AM-4PM 19th – Information Booth A in Squires 11AM-4PM 16th – Hike to the Cascades! Meet 11AM outside Derring Hall March 6th – Equal Exchange Fundraiser Ends 10th – Energy Survey Project Launches 11th – Information Booth B in Squires 11AM-4PM Cards placed in VT Dining Halls 14th – Delivery of Equal Exchange Orders 15th – VT SEEDS Stream Clean-up 17th-21st - Energy Survey Cards in Dining Halls 25th - Information Booth B in Squires 11AM-4PM 30th - Green Roof Work Day 2PM-5PM at 706 Progress St. April 5th – The Big Event! Geo-Cache Activity with VT-STEM 7th - Information Booth B in Squires 11AM-4PM 11th - Information Booth B in Squires 11AM-4PM 11th – Band Fundraiser – Curious Strange at CHAMPS 9PM 12th - Hike to Kelly's Knob - The closest point on the Appalachian Trail to Blacksburg. Meet at 1PM at Derring Hall. 20th – Earth Week Stream Clean-up - Duckpond and Stroubles Creek (EC event) 22nd – EARTH DAY – activities all day on VT Campus 25th – Friday Night Movie Night – 7PM VT SEEDS Officers ’07- ’08 President: Robert Jacks, rjacks@vt.edu – Rob is a junior in the Pamplin College of Business here at VT. His passion lies between business and the environment, and he hopes to bring a lot of success and enthusiasm to the organization this year. Treasurer: Tracie Hundley - Tracie is a junior studying Animal & Poultry Science. She is a pre-vet student and has been and avid SEEDS volunteer and participant for three years. Officer: Rishi Chopra - Rishi is a junior in the College of Science here at VT. He is a biology and chemistry double major, who shows great interest in preserving the environment. Rishi has volunteered for SEEDS since his freshman year on our out-of-school field trips for kids and for our after-school tutoring program. Officer: Lisa Hoag – Lisa is a sophmore double majoring in HNFE and Biology as well as minoring in Medicine & Society. She has great interest in preserving the environment and hopes to one day become an Anesthesiologist.
