What to Bring
Keep in mind that this field experience is "roughing it" in the sense that we will be studying life in its habitat, but not roughing it to make you uncomfortable. There may be conditions in which you may be unfamiliar. We will do our best to inform you of what to expect. Expect the weather to be extreme for whatever season!
Packing
Packing the necessary gear is an art form for rough travel (even for a weekend). Although the usual luggage capacity is available on the van , most people find that they just don't need as much as they think. The list below is intended to be informative and is what we recommend. However, personal comfort is important so there may be a need for things we don't mention.
We recommend you use a small backpack . In addition, we recommend a small daypack for excursions away from base camp.
Once you have everything, we recommend you pack it up as if you were leaving. If everything does not fit, look at what your clothes requirements are and start to "thin" out towards our basic list requirements.
We will have the luxury of cabin camping at the ATC base camp. Tents are unnecessary, but you may camp outside! Bathroom and shower facilitites are available.
The following meals will be provided:
- Drinking water at the base camp
- Dinner on Friday and Saturday
- Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday
